What have I done today?

Today, Katie had her very first soccer game. Her team name is the Fireflies. She wanted to be called the Fire Animals. I have no idea where that one came from, but she was a little devastated when it wasn't picked.

The game was so fun to watch. I can honestly say that I have never laughed so hard at a group of kids in my life. They were so funny. There are 5 kids per team. We were one girl down from the start. She just couldn't stop crying. Someone would ask her if she wanted to play and the flood gates would open. It wasn't just a small cry, either. It was the wail and scream cry. Her mother was at a loss. The little girl did wonderful at practice, but lost it on game day. To tell you the truth, it didn't really matter that we were one man down. The others didn't even notice. They were too busy going after the ball. At one point the ball was kicked out of bounds and the coaches couldn't get them to stop playing. They had almost run onto another field that was in play with another game. Finally one of the coaches got the ball and moved the little herd back onto our field. There is one boy on her team that I think is a little confused. He thinks he has to fall on the ball so no one else will get it. Then when the coach blows the whistle he gets up and starts kicking it towards the goal. All in all, it was a really fun morning. We scored 3 goals and won the game.

When I got home I started working on this card. It has been in my head for about 2 days now and I haven't found the time to just sit and work on it.
I used Basic Black as my 41/4x51/2 background. I used the Really Rust textured cardstock and cut it to 41/8x51/4. I used the paper piercing mat and faux stitched a line across the top and bottom leaving a space big enough to stamp BOO with my SU Straight Up mini alpha. I used the scallop punch to make a Basic Black scallop edged along the top and bottom of my patterned paper. I punched 3 13/8 circles and stamped my Batty for You stamps in the center of each circle. I then stamped them again on a scrap piece of Whisper White and cute around the images. I used some dimensionals to make them POP a little. I took some scrap Basic Black cardstock and punched 3- 13/8 circles and centered those circles in the middles of the Scallop circle. I used those to frame my images. Put on some black and white polka dotted ribbon and you have a very cute Halloween card. Katie is spending the night with her Aunt KK tonight, so maybe I will have some free time to work on a few more things to show you.

Halloween Treat Tin

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. Not because the weather is getting cooler. We live in Alabama and its usually still pretty warm into November. Not even because the kids look so cute dressed up. It's my favorite time because of the candy and the way you can drees "it" up. I went to Specialty Bottle and ordered some of the cute little round tins with the clear lids. They are perfect for M&Ms, Kisses, or even homemade chocolates. You get the idea. I got the 4oz ones (product # TCT4) at .65 each. Not bad.
I haven't put an order in for the new SU! catty, so I didn't have any of the new Halloween paper that is beyond adorable. It's on my list, though. I dug thru my old non-SU stuff and found some Halloween paper that I had scrapbooked with and thought it would work perfect for this little project.
Supplies:
"Batty for You" stamp set
Kiwi Kiss and Basic Black classic ink
Olive polytwill ribbon
Tangerine Tango cardstock
Scallop circle Punch
13/4" circle punch
non SU patterened paper

Here's a side view. I stamped the Frankenstein in Kiwi Kiss and cut him out. Then stamped him again in Basic Black and used a dimensional to make him POP a little. I used the 13/4" circle punch to cut the basic Blasck stamped image. Then mounted it on the Tangerine Tango scallop. I used the non SU patterend paper and cut it into a 73/4"x 11/4" strip that wrapped around the tin. I adhered it to the tin with some sticky dots from ZOTS. I think it turned out pretty cute.

This is one of the projects that I will be doing with my group at the September stamp class. Hope to see you there!!

Ballet Class and a Baby Boy card

Katie had her first ballet class last night. It was a combo class of ballet and tap. She was so excited to finally get to put on her dance outfit. She looked so sweet in her black leotard and pink tights. She even has the little pink flow-y skirt. I asked her if she liked it and she said, "it was great". I asked her what she learned and she said, "I can't remember, but it was great." LOL! That is so like her. She said the very same thing about her first day of kindergartn. Tomorrow night is soccer practice and Saturday is her very first soccer game. This ought to be funny! We're off to but cleats tomorrow when she gets home from school. Her only request was that they be pink.

I told you that I had gotten the Nursery Necessities set from Stampin' Up! and that I was going to be using it quite a bit. Well, I"m keeping my word. Here is another card using this set and one of the new "In Colors".
I tell myself every year that I'm not going to buy the In Colors because I don't want to get attached to just have them retire in a year. Oh, how I dearly miss my Groovy Guava! I caved and bought them all again this year. They were just too bright and cheerful to turn away.
Anyway, the card uses Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze (In Color), and So Saffron ink. I used the Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker to make the stitches. The cardstock is Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. The Really Rust is the textured cardstock. You can't tell from the picture, but it adds alot to the card in person. The ribbon is from the last mini. It's the Chocolate poly-twill ribbon and I LOVE IT!! The scallops were made with the new scallop border punch from SU! If you don't have it, run, don't walk, and buy it from your nearest SU! demo.
As I promised, there will be more baby cards to come.

Ahhhh, the sound of silence....

Katie started school this week and I suddenly have a quiet house. Well, except for Hollis when he is awake. That child is giving my a run for my money. He is a doll, though.

I have had a little more time on my hands to just stamp for the sake of making a card and not just getting ready for a workshop. And what better reason to make a card than because you have "babies" on the brain. My brother and sweet sister-in-law are expecting their first baby this January. I am soooo excited that I can't stand it. My head is spinning with the thoughts of more little hands and feet in the family. So I have baby card ideas swimming in my mind, now. I bought the Nursery Necessities set from Stampin' Up! and this is the first of many cards made with it.

All the supplies are from Stampin' Up!

Cardstock:

Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Ruby Red, & Whisper White.

Ink:

Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, & So Saffron stampin write markers

I layered the small oval, 1" circle, and the Designer Label punches.

I used the distresser from the Cutter Kit and So Saffron brads. Hope you like it and there will be more in the coming days.
